Gov. Maura Healey says her administration is focused on the priorities of the South Coast, as well as every region of Massachusetts.

She told Gene Valicenti on “10 News Conference” that she won’t forget about area and recognizes it has felt overlooked in the past.

“That’s not the kind of governor that I’m going to be,” said Healey. “We understand -- are committed -- to all regions of the state.”

She said she personally loves the South Coast and sees opportunity there. She said under her new budget, she is focusing on the area. Two of her major priorities are investing in affordable housing and growing the green economy.

Healey said problems caused by climate change, like beach erosion, threaten the economy, especially in the South Coast area. To help, she said Massachusetts is developing technology to help slow climate change by developing ways to move away from fossil fuels and toward clean energy.

“This can be the country’s epicenter for offshore wind -- that’s what we want it to be,” said Healey, discussing a recent visit to New Bedford’s Marine Commerce Terminal.

She said she wants this to be an area to add to the number of “green jobs” in the state.

The governor renewed her commitment to bringing commuter rail service to the region via the South Coast Rail.
