A new British podcast documenting the story of Nicholas Alahverdian was released Thursday.

Alahverdian claims he is Arthur Knight and not a Rhode Islander suspected of faking his death.

The podcast claims Alahverdian's wife might have helped in the alleged cover up.

"You go on a journey when you start listening to the podcast. I've been on the journey. I have never worked on a story like this," said Jane MacSorley.

MacSorley is a BBC journalist who worked on the nine-part podcast "I am not Nicholas," available on Audible.

NBC 10 News reported extensively on the saga of Arthur Knight, interviewing the man and his wife, Miranda, by Zoom.

In November, a Scottish judge ruled that Knight is Nicholas Alahverdian -- who also used the name Nicholas Rossi -- and is a fugitive from Rhode Island wanted on a rape charge in Utah.

MacSorley said for her podcast, she went to Alahverdian's house multiple times.

"I was pretty sure this was this American fugitive Nicholas Rossi," MacSorley said. "So, I was 99% sure it was this man but there was 1%, 2% doubt that maybe they got this wrong. Maybe it was terrible case of mistaken identity, and he was this random Irish man caught up in it."

But MacSorley says that doubt quickly faded and, in some cases, there were confrontations.

"His backstory was just filled with holes," she said.

MacSorley said she thinks Alahverdian's wife went along him faking his death and is mysterious widow "Louise" who has called reporters.

These are audio samples from Miranda and Louise that are part of the podcast.

The podcast, which took a year to complete, also includes a trip to Rhode Island.

As for Alahverdian, he has an extradition hearing in March.

NBC 10's Brian Crandall reported on the Alahverdian saga in his "True Crime: International Mystery" podcast.
