Woman's body pulled from Burrillville pond

BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WJAR) — Burrillville police are investigating after working for hours on Sunday to help recover a body from a partially frozen pond.

Police and fire crews responded to Little Round Top Pond just after 11 a.m.

Members of the Harrisville Fire Department found a woman's body partially submerged in the water at the fishing area.

Investigators from the police and fire departments as well as the state's Department of Environmental Management were in the area for about four hours.

An NBC 10 News crew on scene saw the pond was covered in a layer of ice from this weekend's frigid temperatures.

Police have not identified the woman or released her cause of death.

The incident is under investigation.
