Providence police said alcohol, anger and an argument added up to murder when a man was shot dead at a party early Sunday morning.

The victim’s relatives told NBC 10 News that regardless of what happens in court, they won’t be getting their loved one back.

But they say they have some fond memories to look back on.

"He was just like the annoying little brother,” Runell Encarnacion said Monday.

Encarnacion teared up as he talked about his brother, Ivan, who was shot and killed while the two were at an afterhours party in Providence on Sunday morning.

"Silly, clumsy, loud, obnoxious. I mean annoying to put it that way, but I don’t think my brother’s ever been in a fight his whole life. He was just a clumsy kid who always wanted to party," Runell said.

Runell said the two were about to leave when an argument started.

He said his brother threw at drink at 26-year-old Antonio Reyson Leonor Uffre of Woonsocket, who pulled out a gun and fired two shots, one hitting Ivan in the neck.

Police said when officers arrived, Ivan was dead.

"It hurts because I literally just saw him the same day," Dinell Encarnacion, Ivan’s sister, said. "He would just go into my room and talk, go out and run errands. He just came with me to buy Valentine’s Day gifts."

The suspect appeared Monday in Providence District Court and was ordered held without bail. He’s facing murder and ghost gun charges.

"I have no words right now. I’m just trying to cope," said Runell.

"It's a lot. It’s shocking. It’s tragic. It’s like the whole family feels it," Dinell said. "He was the life of the party."

The suspect is expected to be back in court Feb. 21.
