The brother of an 18-year-old seriously hurt in a two-car crash in Warwick said he is still in the hospital on Sunday night.

Zajdele Dulcine says his brother, Aideyn Mencarini, was trying to sell his Subaru to an online buyer last Thursday when things went terribly wrong.

"I had to sit and watch my unconscious little brother get taken out of the vehicle by the jaws of life,” Dulcine told NBC 10 News.

Mencarini ended up being involved in a crash on Sandy Lane that sent six people to the hospital.

He said Mencarini and his friend Bobby hopped into the car with the interested buyer.

"The person whom wanted to buy the car wanted to take it for a test drive and my brother’s concern was obviously that he didn't want the vehicle to be taken,” Dulcine said.

He says what happened next was a nightmare.

"They were begging him to stop and just to stop and the driver was negligent of what everybody was saying in this car,” he said.

The driver allegedly responsible, 18-year-old Jaden Berthole of Taunton, has been charged with multiple felonies.

The most serious are two counts of driving so as to endanger and resulting in serious personal injury.

Police said witnesses saw the suspect traveling at around 80 miles per hour, weaving in and out of traffic before he hit another car.

Dulcine said his brother fractured his pelvis and multiple ribs in the crash.

He also had lacerations to his spleen and liver.

"He's in a lot of pain. In due time he will end up recovering, obviously we don't know to what extent, because it is kind of a day-by-day thing,” Dulcine said.

Mencarini’s friend Bobby was released from the hospital on Sunday.

“Me and my family are just tremendously grateful for how much support and love and prayers we have been receiving,” Dulcine told NBC 10.

Friends and family members have created GoFundMe pages to support Mencarini and Bobby as they recover.
