The new Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center will open on Monday.

Some residents stopped by on Sunday afternoon to take a look at the multimillion-dollar project.

"It's beautiful. It's beautiful,” Audrey Aduama said. “I saw the online rendition and it looks pretty similar to what it is."

The station on Pine Street will serve as a commuter rail and bus station, offering both RIPTA and MBTA transportation.

People can travel north to Boston and as far south as Wickford.

The station in South Attleboro is currently closed.

"I am very pleased to see this project develop the way it is coming. Both cities - Pawtucket and Central Falls are growing,” said Central Falls Councilman Franklin Solano.

The state Department of Transportation said the price tag for the project is about $63 million with more than 20% coming from state and local funds.

The project was supposed to be completed last summer but labor and supply chain problems delayed it.

It is estimated that the station will attract 520 daily boardings.

Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien provided a statement to NBC 10 News:

“The new Pawtucket-Central Falls Train Station is already having a major impact on the City in terms of property rehabilitation and redevelopment.”

A 200-car parking lot and restroom facilities are also located next to the center.
