Cool start to the week, then another warm-up, possible record-setter

As the ocean storm that clipped coastal areas of Southern New England with some rain departs, clouds give way to sunshine Monday, with temperatures running about 5 degrees above average highs for this time of year.

Dry weather continues Tuesday into Wednesday.

In advance of the next storm system, yet another "Inside Runner" that heads towards the Great Lakes midweek, a gusty southwest flow of even milder air surges into the region, bringing highs Wednesday into the mid 50s with filtered sunshine. By Thursday, as clouds increase, even warmer air is expected. If the afternoon rain showers hold off for a bit, there's a good chance we may break the old record for February 16th at T.F. Green's Rhode Island International Airport: 60 degrees set in 1910. As of this writing Sunday evening, I'm forecasting 61 for that day!
