A winter weather advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for all of Southern New England for Monday night into Tuesday.

The potential exists for generally 5" on the low end and 7" on the high end for the bulk of the area, with lesser amounts towards the southeast coast and islands, where some mixed precipitation is expected on a southeasterly flow of air off the relatively warmer Atlantic Ocean, where water temperatures are in the low 40s.

Expect the snow to develop mid-late evening Monday, the bulk of the snow coming in the overnight hours into early Tuesday morning.

By Tuesday afternoon, temperatures will be well above freezing, into the mid-upper 30s, making for a wet snow. The atmosphere will still be cold enough above us to make that precip as snow, but it'll be wet.

We'll get a break Wednesday, the 1st of March, but an active weather pattern is in play. The next weather-makers Wednesday night/Thursday morning, and again Friday, are expected to bring rain to the area.
