EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — Rumford Pet Express in East Providence and the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals held an adoption and foster (guinea) pig-a-palooza on Sunday.
The two organizations came together to find homes for about 30 guinea pigs that were brought to the RISPCA last week.
"The benefit to both organizations is we have people coming in and out of our doors every day asking for these cute little furry friends that they can bring into their homes and help enrich their lives," said Michael Squatrito, executive vice president of Rumford.
Those interested in adoption could either use a QR code at the store to fill out an application or go to the SPCA on Amaral Street.
Potential fosters were also welcome, as many of the guinea pigs will need to be socialized in short-term foster homes before they can be adopted.
Any guinea pigs who were not adopted or fostered on Sunday will remain in Rumford's care until they find families.
