A hit-and-run victim in Cranston is looking for the good Samaritans who helped her that day.

Shawna Sampson and her 12-year-old dog Mase went on their daily walk two weeks ago, when a car hit them on Dyer Avenue in Cranston.

"I lifted my head up just a little bit and I could see that my UGG boots were still standing straight up in the crosswalk still," said Sampson.

It happened during the evening on Tuesday, Feb. 7. Sampson said she was hard to spot, but Mase stood in the road, gaining the attention of motorists.

"I don't remember much. I do remember going to cross the road. I remember seeing the vehicle that was coming," said Sampson. "But after that, I don't remember much except somebody, an angel, I don't know who, but somebody was standing over me saying, 'Don't move honey, the ambulance is coming'."

Mase suffered some bruises and is still sore.

Sampson suffered a shattered femur in her right leg, a pelvis broken in four places, and more injuries.

"I now have a permanent, I have two nails and a 70mm rod, up my leg, and my thigh. I have another screw holding my pelvic bones in place, and I'm possibly going to require some foot surgery," said Sampson. "It's outrageous that somebody can hit a person and a dog and drive away that's insane. I don't know how somebody lives with that."

Sampson is wheelchair-bound for at least six weeks.

The accident happened near Cornerstone School and an ice hockey field. There are pedestrian signs, a 25-mile-per-hour speed limit, and speeding cars.

"The police have tried. It's just the evidence just isn't there, and you know without the person coming forward and taking accountability for their actions. Maybe police won't get them," said Sampson. "But I'm a huge believer in karma."

There is a GoFundMe to help Mase and the family, but Sampson just wants to find the people who showed up for her.

"I was able to find two of the women that stopped to help me and I was able to thank them, but I do know that there are at least, probably ten more people that were there that I would like to find," said Sampson.

If you are one of the individuals who helped Sampson, she said to send her an email at shawna2424@gmail.com.
