WARWICK, R.I. (WJAR) — Crossroads Rhode Island celebrated the opening of new apartments for families in Warwick on Thursday.
Four new family apartments were added to the Beach Avenue Apartments complex.
The project is aimed to help families experiencing homelessness or at risk of experiencing homelessness.
“I’m so excited, my kids are finally stable," said Michelle Lee, a new resident. "You guys don’t understand how important that is, as a single mom, to know that your kids finally have someone to be that they call home."
The new permanent family units are located at the former Warwick Family Shelter.
Crossroads Rhode Island says the four units are in addition to seven units that already exist on the second floor of the building.
It includes two three-bedroom apartments and one two-bedroom apartment.
Rhode Island housing bond funds and a community block grant were used to help with renovations.
