Massachusetts state trooper hit by car while helping at separate crash scene

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WJAR) — A driver struck a Massachusetts state trooper who was getting out of his cruiser to help at the scene of a separate crash on Saturday night.

The trooper and his cruiser were struck just before 11 p.m. along Interstate 195 west in New Bedford.

Both the trooper and the driver of the other car involved were injured and taken to nearby hospitals.

The trooper was treated and released.

It was not immediately known if the driver will face charges.

The crash is under investigation.
