Providence police said a 15-year-old boy was shot while walking down Florence Street in the Olneyville section of the city on Saturday night.

Police said it appears someone in a car fired at the teenager near Joslin Park around 11 p.m. and drove off.

Officers were searching for the shooting scene once the teenager was dropped off at Hasbro Children's Hospital.

Neighbors told NBC 10 News on Sunday that they didn't hear anything but saw police searching in backyards.

One neighbor said they saw police walking in the area around 10 a.m. Sunday morning.

Joslin Park is near William D’Abate Elementary School, which is currently closed for renovations.

Neighbors said the park is usually busy with kids playing soccer, but everyone usually goes home before 8 p.m.

The teenager, whose name has not been released, is in stable condition.

It's unclear what the motive behind the shooting was.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is asked to call Providence police at 401-272-3121.
