Send a letter to the editor for a Just Transition for all

With election rumours swirling, MPs and political leaders will be paying even more attention to what’s being said about them in public. A flood of letters in newspapers across the country, all calling on our MPs and political leaders to guarantee a climate-safe future for our kids, our grandkids, and our planet could help compel them to act.

Use the tool on this page to submit letters to the editor of your local papers. Share why you support a Just Transition for all or a personal story about how the climate crisis has impacted you. We've included some talking points below to help you write the letter.
Talking Points:
  • Time is running out to avert the worst of the climate crisis. Entire communities are being destroyed.
  • We need our MPs and political leaders to start acting like this is an emergency — because it is — and respond with urgent action to kick start a Just Transition.
  • A Just Transition for all includes:
    • An immediate halt on all fossil fuel expansion projects;
    • Massive investments in a green economy, training oil and gas workers for sustainable and clean jobs;
    • Giving frontline and Indigenous communities actual decision-making power over their transitions
  • This isn't just about staving off climate disaster. It’s also about us making a choice to build a resilient future so our kids, grandkids, environment, and planet can not just survive, but thrive.
  • I’m calling on my MP to use this as a wake-up call and opportunity to build a better, climate-safe future for all - and ensure we avoid climate catastrophe by committing to bold climate action to kick start a Just Transition

Tips:
  • Editors are more likely to publish unique and original letters. Personalize your letter, use local examples if you can or talk about why this issue is so important to you.
  • If you're a parent worried about the future generations, or a youth worried about the future of our planet, consider talking about your experience - it could go a long way.
  • Keep your letter as short as possible, to increase the chance that it will be published.
