BUILDING FUTURES - A UNIQUE PARTNERSHIP
The Connections for Learning - Building Futures Program is a unique partnership between Coventry Homes and Parkland School Division. Taking place at 128 Spring Link in Spruce Grove, this one-year program provides an opportunity for Grade 10 students to work together in building a duplex from start to finish while earning credits towards their diploma.

Building Futures provides hands-on, project-based learning and experience that comes with building a house. Specialized instructors teach academic courses out of an on-site garage-turned-classroom and students can then walk outside to collaborate with the Coventry Homes team at every stage of building - from design to construction.

This program is in its third year and will be expanding from Grade 10, to both Grades 11 and 12. The program will be offered to Memorial Composite and Spruce Grove Composite High Schools in September 2023. Just over 60 students will participate in the Building Futures program.

β€œThis year, out of the 22 students who are in the program, 12 are to be signing up for the Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP), which is absolutely outstanding! If I had a program like this in high school, I would have jumped on it.”
-Mike Lees, Trade Procurement Coordinator, Coventry Homes

Parkland School Division is leading the way in Industry Education and deserves special recognition. Coventry Homes is looking to expand the program throughout the entire Edmonton area in 2024. For more information, contact Coventry Homes at MikeL@Coventryhomes.ca
