FLORENCE, Italy – The University of Dayton women's basketball team earned its second victory of the Italy Tour on Friday with a 49-45 win over TK Hannover outside Florence.
It was a back-and-forth game throughout the contest with Dayton holding on late for the win.

Lauren Cannatelli had a game-high 17 points and hit four three-pointers to go with five rebounds. Redshirt junior
Brittany Ward had a strong showing as well with seven points and a team-high 11 rebounds.

Shakeela Fowler made the start at point guard and played well on both ends of the floor with seven points and two boards. Junior
Jayla Scaife chipped in five points and six rebounds.
Key Moments
- Dayton and Hannover were close the entire game, starting with a 4-4 tie right out of the gate, but a Cannatelli three put the Flyers on top 7-4 with 7:50 in the first quarter.
- UD went on a run and pulled ahead 16-9 when a Hannover turnover led to another Cannatelli three.
- The Flyers trailed 20-19 after the first quarter as Hannover answered with a rally of its own.
- The second quarter was a defensive battle in the early stages with neither team scoring until the 7:52 mark.
- UD suffered during a 2:30 scoring drought as the Flyers found themselves trailing by two.
- With four seconds before the half, a Ward layup put Dayton back on top 31-30 going into the locker room.
- The physical battle continued with the Flyers scoring only one bucket in the first six minutes of the third.
- Senior Tiaera Phillips made a crucial play with an offensive rebound that led to her making a bucket to put Dayton ahead in the late stages of the third quarter.
- The fourth quarter was much of the same with Hannover fighting to get back in the game and Dayton trying to extend its slim margin.
- As the clock ticked under a minute to play in the game, the Flyers led 49-43, which proved to be too much for Hannover to overcome.
