Montgomery County Councilmember Hans Riemer invites you join a conversation on accessory dwelling units (ADUs). In addition to addressing housing affordability more broadly in the County, ADUs can bring tremendous value to the homeowner and the renter. What are ADUs?
An accessory dwelling unit is an apartment that a homeowner adds to their residence. Typically they are over-garage apartments, basement apartments, “English basements”, etc. They can also be a smaller house added to a yard.
