Welcome!  Established in 1995-96, the Elizabeth Wesley Youth Merit Incentive Award Program honors Mrs. Wesley who was a strong supporter of African-American youth education and achievement.  This successful community and volunteer based Program focuses on improving retention rates and incentivizing academic performance and individual achievement.  This is accomplished by recognizing and celebrating academic performance, community involvement and good citizenship at home, in the community, and at school.  Since its inception the Program has successfully provided over 3,500 incentive awards of $350 each to African-American achievers in 9th, 10th and 11th grades across seven public school districts including Bethel, Clover Park, Franklin Pierce, Puyallup, Steilacoom, Tacoma and University Place.  Founding community partner organizations include Tacoma Branch NAACP, Tacoma Ministerial Alliance, Tacoma-Pierce County Black Collective, Tacoma Urban League Guild, Tacoma Urban League, and Tacoma Masonic Hall.

Since its inception the Elizabeth Wesley Program has invested over $1.5 million in incentive awards and scholarships in support of college and career goals, and tomorrow’s African American leaders. We encourage you to apply, and under "application materials" you will find links to information that will assist you.
