BACKGROUND -FAMILY AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COLLECTIVE (FDV COLLECTIVE)

Abuse and violence between intimate partners, and between family members, has profound impacts upon the victims, those who witness it, and also those who perpetrate it.

There is a concerted effort at all levels in the Western Australian community to respond to this issue and many Rotary Clubs and individual Rotarians in District 9423 are contributing through projects that support service providers, and initiatives that directly support survivors.

Many Clubs have expressed a desire to be more engaged. The FDV Collective’s aim is to promote and strengthen Rotary’s responses through:

  • Raising awareness and promoting understanding within Rotary of FDV
  • Linking like-minded Rotarians to improve synergies between projects and initiatives
  • Advocating for and promoting new initiatives
  • Collaborating with other Rotary initiatives in District 9423 that have an impact on FDV
  • Building and maintaining relationships with the service sector to ensure that Rotary’s actions are appropriate and targeted to where they are needed most.
