Purpose of Car Caravan - As a part of Every Child NC's Leandro Day of Action on Thursday, February 22nd, this car caravan will begin our day of action by spreading our powerful message through the streets of downtown Raleigh immediately surrounding the State Supreme Court. Participants will create a caravan of cars with signs like "Fund Schools with Leandro", "Invest in our Children" and "Honk for Leandro!"
Meeting Place / Time: Thursday, February 22nd at 9:00am in the Parking lot of the UU Fellowship of Raleigh. 3313 Wade Ave, Raleigh.
Parking Lot Prep. Participants will have the opportunity to decorate their cars with pre-made signs, washable window chalk, etc. Then we will gather to review the specific route we will take around downtown Raleigh, instruction on how to participate safely, and details about the end time and location. Participants will also be given a basic map for reference. At 9:45, we will exit the UUFR parking lot onto Wade Avenue and travel the 7 minutes into downtown Raleigh.
Car Caravan. From 9:45 - 10:15 we will drive to and around the inner traffic loop of downtown Raleigh passing the NC Supreme Court. (Morgan/ Edenton/ Salisbury) We will invite people to Honk for Leandro, and will also honk to whatever degree that we feel comfortable doing so. At 10:15 we will park in the State Government Parking Lot between Edenton and Jones Street. Then we will walk together (5 minutes) to the State Supreme Court building where the main event will be taking place. *** Note, you do not need to stay for the main action outside the courthouse but are encouraged to do so.
