Suspects wanted after stabbing woman who tried to help them in Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WBFF) A Harford County woman was stabbed to death in east Baltimore after police say she rolled down her car window to help someone she thought was in need.

The incident happened in the 1000 block of Valley Street around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

According to police, Jacquelyn Smith, 52, and two relatives were driving in the area following a family gathering when they noticed a woman holding what appeared to be a baby, as well as a sign that read, ‘Please help me feed my baby.’

“This was a good Samaritan who saw an individual holding a sign, who appeared to be down on her luck,” said Jeremy Silbert, with the Baltimore Police Department. “So, they stopped the car and gave her money.”

Police said Smith, who was sitting in the front passenger seat rolled down her window to give the woman money when a man approached the car to thank the family.

According to police, the man then lunged for Smith’s wallet and the two began struggling over it. The suspect then pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the torso.

The man and woman fled the scene.

Family rushed Smith to an area hospital, where she died a short time later.

The suspect was described as a black male in his 30’s, approximately 6’ tall with a goatee.

The woman was described as a black female in her 20’s, approximately 5’4” tall, and wearing a brown jacket.

Homicide detectives are looking to identify both the male and female suspects. Anyone with information about either are asked to call detectives at (410) 396-2100.
