RENO, Nev. (News 4 and Fox 11) — Nevada had the second-largest over-the-year increase in job creation since September 2020.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released a report of how U.S. states compared in job growth in the year spanning September 2020 to September 2021, finding Nevada second only to Hawaii.
Records show 84,100 more jobs existed in September 2021 than in the same month of 2020, representing a 6.6% growth.
While Hawaii shows a 12.9% increase, Nevada's neighboring states of California (5.0%), Oregon (3.4%), Idaho (3.2%), Utah (5.2%) and Arizona (4.7%) were all more than a full percentage point lower than the Silver State.
