Logistics Coordinator

DEPARTMENT:                               Logistics (US Southeast)

LOCATION:                                    Peachtree City, GA

TITLE:                                              Logistics Coordinator

REPORTS TO:                               Manager, US Southeast Logistics

DIRECT REPORTS:                 None

PURPOSE OF POSITION:   Secure and coordinate outbound freight from US South Operations

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:        
  • Responsible for daily dispatch of ready shipments to network of approved trucking vendors.
  • Work with designated carriers, mill operations and the sales department to provide value to our customers through timely delivery of managed shipments.
  • Manage the balance between freight expense and achieving commendable customer service.
  • Ability to negotiate freight rates and service conditions with trucking vendors.
  • Provide rate quotes, routes and freight optimization for destination inquiries from the sales department.
  • Set-up and maintain freight vendors, Geo-Area Locations, and Customer Ship To Addresses.
  • Accounts Payable processing and troubleshooting of freight payables.
  • Support the Manager, US Southeast Logistics in finding trucking vendors to new destinations.
  • Implement quality delivery initiatives and processes that support Interfor’s mission and core values.
  • Demonstrate awareness of customer needs and establish policies and practices to effectively meet those needs through practicable and feasible solutions.
  • Work closely with Shipping Supervisors to ensure adequate transportation capacity has been secured to meet forward order fulfillment and delivery requirements.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

  • Self-motivated with ability to work effectively in a highly interactive team environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Experience with LumberTrack software is an asset.


REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND / OR TRAINING:
  • Minimum 3 years of truck logistics experience or an equivalent combination of education
  • Post- secondary education in Transportation or logistics is an asset 
  • Flatbed truck exposure is an asset
  • Rail exposure is an asset
