Help Build a New Classroom for Olemoncho School

KENYAN SCHOOL PROJECT ANNOUNCES THE BUILDING OF A NEW CLASSROOM FOR THE OLEMONCHO PRIMARY SCHOOL IN KENYA

The students in grades 1 and 2 need a new classroom! These children at the Olemoncho Primary School located in the Masai Mara have been learning their lessons in a small crowded building for several years. It’s time for them to be able to have some space for learning with adequate light and desks for all students.

The Kenyan School Project is a small nonprofit organization working to improve the lives of children in Kenya by promoting better educational opportunities and health. The KSP board has just approved the building of a new classroom for the Olemoncho Primary School. This is a government-sponsored school which has traditionally been a “land share” where the people and wildlife mixed. With the changing cultural behavior of pastoral living to more settled small communities, there is a need to establish educational facilities for the now permanent residents. The original classrooms are no longer adequate for the continuous growth of the school population.

KSP’s grass-roots, all-volunteer approach relies on our generous donors to complete each project. We work closely with the school management committee and let the school community guide the needs and process for each project. Every dollar we receive becomes many shillings to help complete a project. For the past ten years, the Kenyan School Project has accomplished over ten educationally based projects in rural Kenya. That’s thanks to our community of donors from Lopez Island and friends around the country and the world!

The families at the Olemoncho School are dedicated to providing a stable and responsible educational environment for their children. The Head Teacher, Mr. Kitesho, and the school management committee are supportive of this parental enthusiasm and together have ensured that the projects are completed on schedule and within budget. KSP has completed three projects to date with the Olemoncho School - see our website Kenyan School Project for details on the Fencing Project (to keep wild animals out of the school compound), the grade 5 classroom. and the Water Project, which brought fresh potable water to the school.

We are now requesting donations for our next project with the Olemoncho School - the construction of a new classroom. THIS IS WHERE YOU, OUR GENEROUS DONORS, CAN HELP! WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TO CREATE A NEW LEARNING SPACE FOR THESE YOUNG STUDENTS. OUR GOAL IS TO RAISE $10,000 BY THE END OF NOVEMBER.
