Tuesday AM Weather Update: Rain Changing to Wet Snow, 1 to 5 Inches Now Possible

The National Weather Service (NWS) has updated its winter weather advisory for Rhode Island. 

According to NWS, the forecast now calls for rain changing to wet snow, with total snow accumulations of 1 to 5 inches and winds gusting as high as 60 mph.

NWS also warns residents of slippery road conditions and possible power outages.

The advisory, which went into effect at 8 AM, is through 8 AM Wednesday. 

 

Forecast

Today: Rain before 2pm, then snow. Temperature falling to around 35 by 5pm. Northeast wind around 14 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tonight: Snow, mainly before 11pm. Low around 33. Breezy, with a northwest wind 16 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 48 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Breezy, with a northwest wind 16 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 30. Blustery, with a northwest wind 14 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. Northwest wind around 11 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. West wind 6 to 10 mph.

Friday: A chance of rain after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. Light southwest wind becoming south 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Friday Night: A chance of rain. Cloudy, with a low around 39. South wind 9 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
