Providence College men's basketball team was defeated by No. 19 Xavier Musketeers (22-8, 14-5 Big East), 94-89, on Wednesday in Providence. The Friars fell to 21-9 on the season and 13-6 in BIG EAST play. With the loss, the Friars moved to third place in the conference.

This was the Friars' first loss of the season. And, at times, it looked like it was the Friars' first game of the season. PC repeatedly suffered defense breakdowns in defending the pick-and-roll and on back door cuts. Leading to multiple undefended layups for Xavier.

The Friars fell behind by 22 points.
