Woman Hospitalized Following Hit-and-Run in Downtown Providence

A woman was taken to the hospital with injuries after she was struck by a vehicle in downtown Providence early Sunday morning.

The vehicle fled the scene.

About Incident

Shortly after 2 AM, Providence police responded to a report of a pedestrian hit by a car at the intersection of Weybosset and Clemence Streets. 

The victim — a female in her early 20s — was being treated by rescue when police arrived. 

Witnesses told police an older model Toyota Corolla hit the victim and took off, and that it appeared two males were in the vehicle. 

Police said they spoke with the victim inside the rescue and that she had sustained multiple injuries.

According to police, the victim said she had just left Saki’s Pizza when she was struck on Clemence Street. 

The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
