Bomb Threat at Providence Middle School, 13-Year-Old Arrested

A 13-year-old has been arrested following a bomb threat at a Providence middle school on Friday.

About Incident

Police were called to Nathanael Greene Middle School on Chalkstone Avenue shortly after 8:30 AM on Friday for a report of a bomb threat.

According to police, students had been evacuated and were being held away from the school; police said they blocked off several streets for public safety. 

Police said they met with the school principal and a teacher who said they overheard a student saying he had a bomb in his locker.

The student, who was in school custody, was then turned over to the police. 

Police searched the student's locker before the school was deemed safe for students to return.

The student -- a thirteen-year-old -- has been arrested.
