CCRI Hires Jennie Johnson as Vice President for the Division of Workforce Partnerships

The Community College of Rhode Island recently announced Jennie Johnson as Vice President for the Division of Workforce Partnerships.

As Vice President for the Division of Workforce Partnerships, she will lead workforce development efforts at the college, including developing customized trainings in business and industry, workforce development programs, small business and entrepreneurial programs, adult education, transportation programs, and career services.

For the past 16 years, Johnson has served as Executive Director and Senior Vice President for City Year Providence, where she has been responsible for managing the site’s budget and leading the strategy and execution of the organization’s governmental and external relations, development and fundraising, communications, service and impact, recruitment, training, and evaluation components.

Johnson is a proud CCRI and Rhode Island College alumna who earned her bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Psychology. She is also a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program and the American Express Nonprofit Leadership Academy. 

She currently serves as a Commissioner on the Rhode Island State Board of Elections and previously served on the CCRI Alumni Association Board of Directors. She was named a recipient of the “40 Under Forty” award from Providence Business News and the Women of Excellence award from the Women’s Center of RI, and was named one of GoLocalProv’s “12 people who made a difference in RI 2012.” In 2015, City Year Providence was honored by Providence Business News with a Business Excellence Award for Excellence at a Non-Profit.

Johnson is a transformative and widely-respected community and education leader with strong and trusted connections to local, state, and national public and private stakeholders.

Silva Joins Engel & Völkers as a Real Estate Advisor

Engel & Völkers of East Greenwich announced today that Sue Silva has joined its brokerage as a real estate advisor, bringing more than 30 years of industry experience to this new role.

She has a decorated background in the real estate industry. She has received the Five Star Real Estate Agent Award 13 times and she has received the 100% RE/MAX Club Award every year since 2012. She was an Executive Club Award recipient in 2017 and a Hall of Fame Achievement recipient in 2019. Sue has also been featured in Rhode Island Monthly and HGTV Magazine.

She worked in the real estate industry for 17 years prior to becoming a real estate advisor. Her career began at RE/MAX Central as an administrator, working on weekends. After receiving a Paralegal certificate from Katharine Gibbs College, Silva served as a real estate paralegal for several attorneys before she was recruited into the mortgage industry, rising in rank to assistant vice president at Money America Home Mortgage Center.

Silva eventually joined Wachovia (now Wells Fargo), where she worked in the closing department. Not long after, She stepped into sales, becoming a loan officer in 2003. She received her real estate license in 2009 and her industry expertise quickly paid off. Sue received the Rookie of the Year Award her first year as a real estate advisor. She joins Engel & Völkers from RE/MAX Real Estate Center, where she has worked since 2009.

“Engel & Völkers has relit a spark in me,” says Silva. “Their global brand recognition and amazing business strategy, along with their innovative advisor and client tools will take my business to the next level while providing my clients the highest level of service.”

She specializes in waterfront properties and has assisted countless transactions across the Ocean State, particularly around Johnson’s Pond in Coventry. Being a lifelong Rhode Islander has allowed her to help hundreds of families navigate the complexities of purchasing and selling their homes throughout the state.

“Sometimes people don’t know where they want to be, but know what they want in a home,” says Silva. “That’s where having a deep understanding of the state’s cities and communities allows me to find not only a home, but a community that matches my client’s needs and interests.”

She is a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Kent Washington Association of Realtors, the Rhode Island Association of Realtors, and the Connecticut Association of Realtors.

She is also a member of Women Empowered, the AAA Regional Charitable Giving Team, and she has held several positions at the Johnson’s Pond Civic Association over the years. Silva is licensed in RI and CT.
