Most recently, redshirt freshman Abdou Samb, a 6’8” forward and sophomore Sebastian Thomas have announced their entry into the portal. Thomas is a Bishop-Hendricken grad.
Both were in the regular rotation.
Samb started 17 games.
Samba wrote on his Instagram post announcing his departure, “My family and I have decided to part ways with this program, after considering all of the options, and I will be placing my name in the transfer portal.”
Thomas led the team in assists and was the 6th leading scorer. His departure was first reported by the website Verbal Commits.
These announcements come on the heels of the two most talented players who have already announced their entry into the portal.
Now Four Are Departing
GoLocal reported on Wednesday URI is losing its most talented player -- sophomore Ishmael Leggett.
He has entered the NCAA's transfer portal.
Leggett's departure comes just a couple of months after Miller dismissed Brayon Freeman - he had only been with the Rams for less than a year after transferring in from George Washington University.
Leggett and Freeman led the Rams in scoring and second and third, respectively, in assists.
Miller is again forced with a near-complete rebuild in his second year. Miller was 9-22 in his first year at Rhode Island.
