Brown Loses to Princeton, Faces Near Must-Win Situation at Penn Saturday Night

The Brown men's basketball team fell to Princeton 78-67 Friday night. The Tigers improved to 17-7 on the year and 8-3 in Ivy play, while the Bears fell to 13-11 and 6-5.
Brown falls to 13-11 and and 6-5 in the league.
In the Ivy’s the top four teams make the conference playoffs for a chance at an NCAA automatic bid.

Saturday night Brown plays at Penn — a Brown win and a Penn loss would push Brown potentially as high as a tied for second.
There are only two games left in the season after the Penn game — at bottom dwelling Columbia (Feb 25) and home against Yale (March 4).
Princeton Loss
"It was not a good night for us and obviously Princeton had a lot to do with it," head coach Mike Martin '04 said. "We were not as good as we needed to be on offense or defense. The game didn't have a lot of flow, but that's not an excuse for us to not be as good as we needed to be."
Nana Owusu-Anane posted his fourth double-double of the season with a team-high 16 points and 11 rebounds. Paxson Wojcik scored 15 points and grabbed eight boards, while Kino Lilly Jr. had 10 points and three assists.
The Tigers jumped out to an early lead, but the Bears kept it close for the majority of the first half. Despite Princeton stretching its lead out to 11 with 8:15 to go in the opening half, Brown fought back to get the game within three at 25-22 following a pair of free throws by Lilly.
From there, Princeton scored the next six points to push the deficit back to nine. At the halftime buzzer, the Bears trailed 39-29.
In the second half, the closest Brown would get was within eight. After the Tigers pushed their lead to 16, the largest of the night, the Bears used a 7-0 run to get the game back within single digits, capped by a Wojcik steal and three-point play with 2:54 to go.
But that's where the comeback would end as Princeton sealed the win over the final two minutes.
"Hopefully we can learn from tonight and get ready for another great opportunity tomorrow against a tough team," Martin said.
