Hospital Association Announces New Board Members

The Hospital Association of Rhode Island (HARI) announces the election of Members-at-Large to its Board of Trustees. This week, HARI held its March meeting with four newly elected members in attendance: Ana Fulton, MD; Edward McGookin, MD, Amanda Oberlies, Ph.D., and Patricia Poitevien, MD.

 

“At a time when it is crucial to have healthcare leaders from diverse backgrounds engaged in the conversation about access to care and improved population health outcomes, we are honored to have these new board members join us.  Each of them will add great value and a unique perspective to our ongoing effort to move hospitals and healthcare forward for the residents of our state,” says Teresa Paiva Weed, President of the Hospital Association of RI.

 

Ana Tuya Fulton, MD, MBA, FACP, AGSF is the Chief Population Health Officer for Care New England while concurrently serving as Executive Chief of Geriatrics & Palliative care for Care New England health system, and Chief Medical Officer for Integra Community Care Network, LLC.  She is a geriatrician at Brown University currently holding Associate Professorships in Medicine and in Psychiatry and Human Behavior.  

 

Edward McGookin, MD, MHCDS, FAAP is the President of Coastal Medical.  Coastal provides care to over 130,000 patients in 23 medical offices across Rhode Island and is at the forefront of work on healthcare delivery system transformation and payment reform both locally and nationally.  Dr. McGookin practiced general pediatrics for more than 15 years at Coastal Waterman Pediatrics before he assumed the role of Chief Medical Officer at Coastal.

 

Amanda Stefancyk Oberlies, PhD, MBA, RN, FAAN is the Chief Executive Officer of the Organization of Nurse Leaders (ONL) of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Vermont, a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to empowering nurse leaders so they may advance the health of their patients and communities.

 

Patricia Poitevien, MD, MSc, FAAP is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and Senior Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. Poitevien’s research focuses on inclusion and mentorship of underrepresented learners in academic medicine.

Two Promotions and One New Hire at Nail

Nail Communications announces a number of staff moves.

The agency promotes both Ashley Lawlor and Stephen Fitch, according to Managing Partner Jeremy Crisp of the advertising, design, and branding communications agency.

Production Manager Lawlor is promoted to Senior Producer, and Senior Account Strategist Fitch becomes Strategy Director.

Lawlor joined Nail in 2022 after spending two years as a Freelance Producer. She was an Integrated Producer with Sleek Machine in Boston and spent five years with MullenLowe, most recently as Associate Producer. Fitch started his career at Nail in 2011 as an Account Manager, after proving himself a successful entrepreneur by founding and running his own business, Moondust Macarons.

Fitch is a graduate of Bryant University and Lawlor received her degree from Suffolk University.

In addition, the firm announced ithas grown their project management practice with the appointment of Angela McCarten, according to Partner Jeremy Crisp of the award-winning creative agency. As Senior Project Manager, McCarten will oversee the agency’s team of project managers and provide strategic direction for project resourcing.

“At Nail, we’re continuing to evolve our processes to enhance both our clients’ experience and our operational quality,” said Crisp. “With Angela at the helm, I’m confident that our project management service will continue to excel.”

McCarten joins Nail with a wealth of client and project management experience, having worked with several esteemed agencies and brands across New England. She began her career in account services where she supported accounts at Connecticut agencies Park Group Solutions, TracyLocke, and IN Marketing. During this time, she worked on a wide client roster, including Pepsi, Gatorade, Starbucks, and Lipton, among others.

She then moved in-house to work for The TJX Companies as a Senior Marketing Project Specialist, a position she held for over four years. During her tenure she acted as lead project manager on HomeGoods, as well as championing the launch of HomeSense and Marshalls e-commerce.

“I am ecstatic to join the Nail team and lead the project management department,” said McCarten. “The talent throughout this company is so impressive and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to help strengthen our processes, creative problem-solving, and team collaboration.”

McCarten holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Advertising, and Applied Communication from Western New England University. She joined the team at Nail as a full-time employee in February 2023.
