Lanni Appointed Deputy Chief of Providence Police Department
Friday, February 17, 2023
Mayor Brett Smiley and Colonel Oscar Perez announced on Friday the appointment of Major Kevin Lanni to the rank of Deputy Chief of the Providence Police Department.
Perez has recently been appointed Chief, following the departure of Hugh Clements; Lanni was a finalist for Chief along with Perez and Detectives Major David Lapatin.
As GoLocal reported, Lanni had a private dinner with Smiley during the vetting process -- and his record also came unraveled toward the end as it pertained to factually incorrect statements both by Smiley and Lanni.
