2018-2019 (Senior): De La Bassetiere put together a historic senior season. In the fall, De La Bassetiere and partner Gabriel Nemeth went 9-1 in doubles play. The pair won six-straight matches on the way to becoming the first duo in program history to win the Atlantic Regional Championship. The duo then went on to compete in the Oracle ITA Fall National Championships, where they were crowned doubles consolation champions. De La Bassetiere and Nemeth finished the fall season as the top-ranked doubles team in the nation in ITA Rankings, becoming the first pair to earn the rank in program history. In the spring, the senior captain finished with a 21-4 mark at the top singles slot, defeating 10 ranked opponents and going 9-1 in the Big Ten. He finished with a career-high rank of No. 44. De La Bassetiere set the new program-best with four Big Ten Athlete of the Week Awards. He was also honored as one of four players in the conference to earn a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten selection. He went on to earn an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament, where he lost to future tournament champion, South Carolina’s Paul Jubb.
2017-2018 (Junior): Constant proved his strength to the team with a very successful junior campaign. He posted a 6-3 singles record and 5-3 doubles record in the fall. Constant won his singles draw in the Ivy Princeton Plus Invitational, and then went onto win the doubles draw paired with Christian Lakoseljac. The Lakoseljac and De La Bassetiere duo were ranked No. 18 throughout the season. At the ITA Regionals, Constant advanced to the round of 16 in the singles main draw and to the quarterfinals of the doubles main draw with partner Lakoseljac. Constant entered the fall season ranked No. 118 in the ITAs and ended the season ranked No. 67. In the spring, Constant posted a 15-8 singles record, playing almost exclusively at the No. 1 spot. In doubles competition, De La Bassetiere continued his success from the fall with Lakoseljac to go 10-9. De La Bassetiere also knocked off No. 8 Michigan in the lone match he finished with partner Ben Lieb. De La Bassetiere finished the season with a
First-Team All-Big Ten award.
2016-2017 (Sophomore): Constant proved to be a critical member of the team after a successful sophomore season. In the fall tournament season, Constant only made the trip to the ITA Regional Championships, but found success. He advanced to the quarterfinal round in singles. During the Regional Championships, Constant and Christian Lakoseljac won three out of their four matches and advanced to the semifinal round. In the spring season, Constant’s successes continued by playing at the No. 1 spot every match. He upset two ranked opponents – No. 74 Matic Spec of Minnesota and No. 27 Josh Hagar of Notre Dame. The Nittany Lion finished his singles dual season 10-10. During the spring, Constant and doubles partner Christian Lakoseljac played at the No. 1 spot. The duo upset No. 16 ranked Madarasz and Medinilla of Purdue.
2015-16 (Freshman): Constant De La Bassetiere came onto the team in January at the start of the second semester. Bassetiere posted a fantastic 15-6 singles record overall and maintained the No. 1, 2, and 3 singles positions all season. He really hit the ground running, winning his first nine matches, with No. 43 Dartmouth, No. 48 Old Dominion University, and No. 54 Cornell among those victories. After one dropped match, Bassetiere came back out on top to win six more straight matches. This six game streak featured wins against several ranked teams - No. 73 UNC Wilmington, No. 25 Michigan, No. 66 Nebraska, and No. 65 Iowa. Bassetiere also played in some doubles matches in the spring, finishing with a 10-7 record overall. Partnered with Laaribi, he defeated No. 52 Princeton, No. 73 UNC Wilmington, and No. 18 Illinois. He also partnered with Galush to defeat No. 65 Iowa and No. 50 Purdue.
Before Penn State: Constant De La Bassetiere comes into Penn State an established French tennis player, having played since he was four-years-old. Constant is currently ranked 95th in the world on the ITF rankings and the eight-time Champagne (France) Region Champion. At only 14-years-old, Constant won the Epitok-Abris Cup in Hungary, defeating the top ranked European player at that time. That same year, De La Bassetiere went on to be the singles quarterfinalist in the French Championship. The following year, 2013, Constant went back to the French Championship and took title. He won his first ITF Tournament in both singles and doubles at the age of 15. De La Bassetiere made the French National Team in 2014 and went on to win the European Championships. This past fall, Constant won the ITF singles title in Haifa, Israel.
