Biography

2018-2019 (Senior): Galush had a strong senior season, going 4-0 in fall doubles competition with partner Ben Lieb. The duo earned all four wins at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships, where they advanced to the quarterfinals before defaulting to Gabriel Nemeth and Constant De La Bassetiere. Lieb and Galush didn’t skip a beat in the spring, finishing with a 15-5 record and five Big Ten wins. Galush ended his last season with an overall 20-7 doubles record.

2017-2018 (Junior): Matt had a strong fall season posting a 3-2 singles record and a 4-3 doubles record. Galush’s highlight of the fall was going 2-0 at the William and Mary Invitational against top teams. In the spring, Matt kept the momentum going, with a 6-3 singles record. Matt also registered an 11-7 doubles record, with seven of those wins coming with partner Gabriel Nemeth.
 
2016-2017 (Sophomore): Galush primarily played doubles during his sophomore year. Paired with Henry Gordon for most of the fall season, the duo went 4-2. During the ITA Regionals, the pair lost in the third round to Virginia Tech. Once the dual season began, Matt alternated partners but consistently played at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles position. Galush had a strong fall season going 4-4 in his singles matches. At the Big Ten Indoor Championships, Matt advanced to the round of 16 in singles where the defending champions, Ohio State, defeated him. He only saw singles action once in the spring, but he came out on top easily defeating Cleveland State.
 
2015-2016 (Freshman): Galush had a great freshman season, playing almost exclusively doubles. He stayed at the No. 2 and 3 doubles slot all year, posting a fantastic 13-4 record in the spring. Galush started off his spring doubles season with seven wins, pairing with several different teammates. Playing with Bassetiere he took down No. 65 Iowa and No. 50 Purdue, and with Laaribi he defeated No. 18 Illinois and No. 28 Columbia. In the fall, Galush reached the quarterfinals at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, partnered with Ben Lieb. In singles, Galush was undefeated 1-0 in the spring.
 
Before Penn State: Galush was a 3-time North Carolina 3A Dual-Team Champion as well as 3-time Individual Champion as a member of the Cardinal Gibbons team. He received All-American Honors his senior year. Galush led the team as captain his junior and senior years. In 2014, Galush was runner-up in doubles when competing in the Boy’s 16s National Championship. Galush entered Penn State as a top-75 recruit in the country.
