Biography

2019-20 (Junior) 
Sentay started off his third season in the ITA doubles rankings with partner Gabriel Nemeth at No. 60. The duo also advanced to the round of 16 at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships in the fall. In the spring, the pair finished with a 8-2 record playing on courts one and two. In singles, Sentay started the spring 4-0, splitting time between courts five and six. He ended with a 4-2 record. Spring season shortened due to COVID-19 pandemic.

2018-19 (Sophomore) 
Sentay earned an overall record of 10-11 during his sophomore year with the team. He had a solid fall, going 2-2 in singles competition. He also earned two dominating wins in straight sets against Wisconsin and Nebraska in consolation draws at the Big Ten Indoor Championships. In the spring, Sentay went 5-5 at the No. 6 singles spot and 1-0 at No. 4. He also posted a 7-6 doubles record and went 2-0 with partner Gabriel Nemeth at the No. 2 doubles spot.   


2017-18 (Freshman) 
In his first season at Penn State, Alp split his time almost equally between doubles and singles play. Despite some hard fought matches, Alp had a 12-15 overall singles record. At ITA Regionals, Alp advanced to the main draw round of 16 in the fall season. Also at ITA Regionals, Alp and doubles partner Christos Antonopoulos made it to the doubles semifinals. In the spring, Alp and Christos finished with an overall winning 15-12 record in doubles competition. The pair went 1-1 against nationally ranked opponents, defeating No. 46 Indiana.
 
Before Penn State 
Alp Sentay comes into Penn State an established Turkish tennis player, having played since he was six-years-old. Alp achieved an ATP rank of No. 1110 in singles after years of representing the Turkish National Team. From the ages of 12 to 18, Alp played for the team. At the age of 14, Alp played on the Turkish team that qualified for both winter and summer cup finals, was selected for the Tennis Europe’s Development Team, and played in the double’s finals in the 2012 European Championships. In 2014, he was also a member of the Turkish team that once again qualified for both winter and summer cup finals. In 2015 and 2016, Alp was selected to practice for the Turkish Davis Cup Team at the National Tennis Center. He still represents Turkey as part of the Turkish Davis Cup Team.
