Hi All,
In our C320, there was a button mounted near the sink that turned on the shower sump pump.  In our new-to-us C355, there is a button mounted below the sink near the toilet.  It does not seem to do anything with the sump pump.

To add to the fun, the sump was full yesterday.  When I turned on the breaker for the pump, I could hear it running and watched some water swirl about, but the water level did not go down.  The seacock was open, but no water was being pumped out.  After a fairly short time (perhaps 30 seconds?), the pump shut off.  It is an automatic pump, so I don't see how the button near the head sink is related.

I got all the water out of the sump and poured in the pink stuff for winter.  My guess is that the hose from the pump is clogged.  I will try blowing this out.

So, what about the button?  What is it for?

Also, does the refrigerator drain into the sump?

Thanks,
Dean Vermeire

The only switch for the shower sump is the breaker on the panel other than the float switch in the bilge.  Make certain you get the line cleared before the first freeze.
The biggest problem with the refrigerator is that there is no drain and therefore using it as an ice box is not a possibility.

Dean,
The sump for the shower will lose it’s prime when it’s been emptied (usually during winterizing). When this happens and as you described there is a little knob on the shower sump-with the seacock open and the CB on turn the knob to pick up the prime. Once primed, simply turn the CB on and the sump will self empty when using the shower. We used to leave it on for about 20 minutes after a shower so the movement of the boat empties out more water. Once primed you shouldn’t have to do this again unless you completely empty the sump.
Button under the sink is to flush the toilet and there is no drain for the fridge…
