Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Dendrobium Orchid Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($200 in total prizes)

Hello and welcome back to my blog! It’s time for the new Craft-a-Flower reveal! I’m so excited to join Altenew for the brand new Craft-A-Flower: Dendrobium Orchid Release Blog Hop + Giveaway. You should be arriving here from the awesome Nenette’s blog, but if not, you can go back to the start, at the Altenew Card Blog and go from there.

My card was inspired by the below photograph that my sister clicked a few months back.

First, I die cut the flowers and leaves from watercolour paper using the Craft-A-Flower: Dendrobium Orchid Layering Die Set. Next, I assembled them using precision glue and inked the images using the below crisp dye inks:
Flower:
Petals – Pink Diamond
Center of the flower – Bamboo, Citrus Burst
Leaves:
Layer 1 – Just Green, Mountain Pine
Layer 2 – Firefly, Grass Field

To create the background, I inked a Yupo paper using Mountain Pine Alcohol Ink and 99% Isopropyl alcohol. Once I was happy with the panel, I die cut it using the second die from the Mix and Match Frames Die Set. Next, I placed the largest die from the same die set on Jet Black cardstock and ran it through my die cutting machine.

After that, I assembled the card using precision glue. I decided not to add any sentiments to the panel as I plan to frame it and gift it to my sister.

  1. Lol! This was Altenew’s creative challenge last month. Take a picture of a real life flower and make a card using it as your inspiration.

  2. WOW – you REALLY caught the feeling of your sisters beautiful photo. I love the alcohol ink background – it’s like I can see a river of luscious green drifting behind your flower branch. Gorgeous! Definitely adding this orchid craft-a-flower set to my “need it list!

  3. This is my new favorite Craft A Flower set. Gorgeous inked background mounted on black, beautiful bloom arrangements. Stunning! Thanks for sharing.

  4. What a beautiful design and layout! You did a wonderful job imitating real orchids. My husband grows orchids so this die set is really special to me.
    Thanks for sharing!

  5. Your card is stunning! I love your amazing alcohol ink background and I love those colorful blooms. Thanks for showing a photo of an actual Dendrobium Orchid. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one before and it’s absolutely gorgeous.
