Container Pricing for IBM Z

Abstract:  Container Pricing for IBM Z – a groundbreaking new software pricing alternative to traditional capacity based metrics. It combines flexible deployment options with competitive economics that are directly relevant to those solutions.  This session will cover the announced solutions for Container Pricing (from 4q2017) along with the newly announced updates in 4q2018.

Bio:

Scott Engleman has spent his career working in numerous IBM Z organizations as a programmer, manager, functional manager, program manager, and now as the z/OS Offering Manager.  He has worked for organizations in the IBM Z hardware team, firmware team (specializing in Hardware Systems Management), and now the software team.  Most recently, his role as the z/OS Offering Manager has involved him deeply in the Container Pricing initiative due to z/OS’s key role in the technology that makes Container Pricing possible.

Open and Connected – How IBM and Splunk are Bringing New Insight into IBM Z

The IBM Z mainframe continues to be the cornerstone of the global economy.   For decades it has powered the world’s largest banks, retailers, airlines and insurance companies.   However, the explosion of mobile and connected devices is forcing enterprises to transform the way they do business.   In today’s digital climate the mainframe can no longer be isolated from the rest of the IT infrastructure.   Any lack of visibility impacts your business’s ability to deliver key services.   Learn how IBM and Splunk are working together to not only provide  access to the volumes of IBM Z machine data but are also providing valuable insight into that data to both operations and  lines of business.

Bio:

Dan Wiegand is a Senior Offering Manager focused on the IBM Z IT Operations Analytics portfolio. He is responsible for product direction and the market success of that portfolio.
