Hi Everyone! It’s so close to the end of the year!! Wow, it has flown by, and more so with all the fabulous crafty releases from Altenew to look forward to each month. Today’s release is all about stand-alone dies and there are some beautiful ones. I can’t wait to share my projects today as part of the blog hop and giveaway. You should have landed here from Kari VanNoy‘s blog. If not, you can head on over to the Altenew Card Blog to start from the beginning!

Today’s release has some super pretty die sets, and one of my favorite is the new layering floral – the Gold Band Lily Layering Die Set. For my first card, I created three of these florals and actually only ended up using two of them on my first card, so used the third one for another card! I love how this pair came together.

To create my Lillies, I die cut all the layers – I used white cardstock, dark brown for the base, gold glitter for the stripes, pale green for the stamens and rose gold mirror card stock for the tips. I used shades of green for the leaves.

Before building my card, I created my background. I used a panel of white card, dry embossed with Organic Linen 3D embossing folder. I created the sentiment using the Reason to Smile stamp set. It is heat embossed in Pure White embossing powder onto a Jet Black panel created using the smaller of the new Nesting Slim Labels Die Set.

I arranged the florals and leaves around the sentiment using foam squares to pop them up, and then added splatters with the Forest Glades Metallic Shimmer Ink Spray. A few Antique Gold Sequins here and there finished the card.

I decided to use the third Lilly as an embellishment on a three tier anniversary cake using the brand new Celebrate With Cake die set. I created three of the flat tier with Spicy Yoghurt card, and then layered it with drips cut from the same glitter cardstock, stacking them together. I also used the leaf die in the set cut from coordinating shades of green cardstock.

For my background I dry embossed a panel of white card with the Floating Foliage 3D embossing folder. I added some Forest Glades splatters and then adhered my cake, floral on top, as well as a few Antique Gold Sequins. I added a simple sentiment from Sentiment Strips stamp set, heat embossed in white to finish.

This just gives you an idea of how to use the Celebrate With Cake die. There are so many other ways to use it. How about a simpler birthday card?

I die cut the small and large tiers from a panel of the Altenew Blends 6×6 paper pack to get that colored gradient look. I also die cut the embellished drops and swags from gold glitter yardstick and adhered the pieces together.

The numbers are die cut from the same paper, and a little from the gold, adhered together for a ‘dipped’ look. This die set has all sorts of little embellishment and the numbers to create any ‘age’ or date you like. I die cut the cake stand from Spicy Yoghurt card and then adhered the entire cake to a white notecard, leaving space for a sentiment.

I added a few splatters with Jet Black Ink Spray, as well as some Satin White Sequins. The sentiment was stamped in Obsidian Black ink and is from the Birthday Greetings stamp set.

My next set of projects features the brand new Decorative Tags die set, and Mini Rolled Rose die. I created the roses using the Blends 6×6 paper again. It’s great as its double sided, perfect for 3D objects. These roses can be a little fiddly to create at first until you discover the trick – my secret – use tweezers (the snap close kind) to keep the rose rolled up while the glue dries. I die cut the leaves from the gray paper in the pad too.

While my roses dried, I die cut the tags from white card, and from gold glitter card. I then created an inlay look for one of my tags by backing the open leaf area with a sticky cardstock and layering in the gold leaves. I cut the outline of the gold glitter tag off at an angle and overlaid it on the white for my second tag. I then adhered the roses and the leaves on top with liquid glue and foam squares.

For embellishing I added Antique Gold Metallic Ink Spray splatters, and Satin Gold Sequins, as well as gold metallic thread through the hole at the top. The sentiments are from Sentiment Strips heat embossed in Pure White embossing powder on jet black card stock die cut with the Featured Sentiments strips dies.

My final card is probably one of my favorites! I created it using the Lovely Daisies die set. I die cut all of the pieces of these flowers from coldpress watercolor card stock, and colored them using the new Hawaiian Shores Brush & Fine Tip pens, pulling out the color with a water brush. I layered them together and added a spritz or three of Pure White Ink Spray for a little texture. When dry I adhered them all together and set aside.

For the background, I created a small shaker using a frame from the Mega Stamp Frames die set. I added acetate and foam tape then centerd onto a panel of white Woodgrain card, with a small pile of blue/grey/white sequins in the centre, adhering over the top. I arranged the daisies over the top with foam tape and added a coat of Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the flower centers for even more texture.

The sentiment is from the same Mega Stamp Frames die set, cut from several layers of white card, and gold glitter layered together and popped up over the top of the daisies. I also scattered a few sequins to finish.
