Job Description

The Water Consultancy Division is the centre of excellence within Mott MacDonald for responding to water and wastewater delivery capability challenges, providing support to colleagues across our global business, and offering fantastic opportunities to get involved in diverse and technically challenging work.
  
Climate change, aging assets, and population growth place increasing pressure on our water and wastewater treatment facilities. Our highly successful water consultancy business is servicing ever-increasing demands from water sector clients to help deliver ambitious capital programmes. The work we do is at the forefront of ensuring safe water supplies for future generations and protecting our environment.

You will join a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technical specialists, preparing feasibility studies, calculations and outline/detailed civil engineering designs; producing technical and commercial specifications, drawings and schedules; and carrying out site supervision duties. You will work in close partnership with clients and contractors, building strong relationships that will enhance the company’s reputation and help secure further work.

This role will present you with a fantastic opportunity to develop your technical and project management skills through your project work, with great prospects for career progression as the business continues to grow.

We are looking for a number of graduates for our water consultancy, within the following sub-sectors:

Dams, rivers and geotechnics are, and will continue to be a huge part of solving many of the challenges the water sector is facing such as: mitigating flood risk, securing renewable energy sources for future generations, and increasing our climate resilience.

As a team of over 100, we are working on delivering some of the largest infrastructure projects in the country such as: the detailed design of watercourse diversions and river crossings on HS2, tidal flood protection as part of Boston Barrier, and various Flood Alleviation Schemes across the country. Pipelines and networks: Our 100-strong Pipelines and Networks team work to tackle these challenges. We design water supply networks, deliver major pipeline transfers and drainage systems to alleviate flooding and river and coastal pollution. From tackling leakage to investigating sewer flooding, UK strategic water resource options planning to delivering drinking water to Dhaka, we work on a range of exciting projects for most of the UK water companies and environment agencies, as well as on international projects.

Candidate Specification

To be eligible for this opportunity, you will have less than 12 months relevant experience and have a degree or are expected to achieve one in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a similar subject.

In your application you should be able to demonstrate your interest in the role and working at Mott MacDonald through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules, or previous work experience.

We are looking for graduates with the following characteristics:

  • Methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail and be able to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing.
