This position is accountable for leading the global Coca-Cola system to continuously address new developments, policies, and issues related to QSE (Quality, Safety and Environment) for the Global Hydration Platform and serve as the systems subject matter expert on water sources (Hydrogeology) and packaged water quality.

The position is responsible for building organizational capabilities related to water availability and manufacturing supply chain for the hydration portfolio. It reports to the Corporate QSE Global Quality and Food Safety Director. The role will require continuous connections and collaboration with multiple geographies and The Coca-Cola Company Operating Units to ensure homogeneity throughout the networked system for complex water system. Success in the role will require identification of successful practices, driving performance enhancements, and bringing together the system through networks to ensure proper source water design and availability.

Function Related Activities / Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the global network of Subject Matter Experts for the hydration portfolio to ensure lean manufacturing operations (Operating Units, Bottling partners and Suppliers).
  • Build quality expertise, system capability and successful practices. 
  • Provide leadership to external organizations/committees/governments/boards such as trade, scientific or industry groups to represent the Company and influence outcomes.
  • Identify, prioritize, plan and lead value added projects to address quality, food safety and business needs.
  • Provide Leadership to Operating Units and Bottling Partners in identifying effective and efficient ways to achieve compliance on packaged water.
  • Provide Leadership and technical expertise for water source development & management  
  • Challenge current governance using data and scientific evidence to allow for increased flexibility to address advances in technology for source water and hydration portfolio.
  • Engage and collaborate with suppliers, global innovation and R&D to identify and authorize new technologies with application for our System.
  • Act as scientific, regulatory, technical and quality expert by responding to questions and issues from the field or other departments/operating units and providing support to the System.
  • Partner with PACS in knowledge sharing, consumer complaint handling upon sound science, and in relationship with authorities and media activities.
  • Partner with SRA in the follow-up of water regulations tracking any impact for the business, and reviews and establishes standards accordingly

Related Work Experience: 

  • A minimum of 10 years in liquid manufacturing operations, especially in bottled / flavored / enhanced waters proving experience in water sourcing, quality systems, implementation of GMPs and corrective actions, work with external associations, and deep understanding of applicable regulations

Functional Skills:

  • Experience and proven expertise in hydrogeology, water sourcing, drilling technologies, water management, chemistry and microbiology of water.
  • Proven results in establishing water risk analysis as regards to regulations, food safety and environmental impacts.
  • Execution of Quality Systems and quality assurance principles, and ability to translate into operational application.
  • Experience in industrial processes, water treatment and bottling technologies, hygienic practices, and establishment of monitoring plans / corrective actions to support BUs and Bottling Partners in decision making.
  • Laboratory Testing: Knowledge and practical application of analytical methods applicable to water (microbiology, chemistry), water-based products, and packaging. Capability to evaluate data and propose actions in consequence.
  • Building Technical Relationships and Stewardship: Apply technical knowledge and establish credibility with highly technical audiences that will benefit customers and/or the Company.
  • Food Science: Knowledge of principles and techniques of basic food science and their application to the beverage industry.
  • Project Management: Lead projects that involve cross-functional teams. Includes ability to manage budgets, broad scopes, multiple suppliers and/or enterprise team members.
  • Innovation and R&D: interact with both communities as regards to new product development and establishing plans to address near- and long-term category growth.
  • Capability in establishing Governance Models for lean manufacturing and quality by design.
