Position Summary | This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Groundwater Modeling Lab Tech position for the Department of Biological & Ecological Engineering at Oregon State University (OSU).The student will work under the supervision of Dr. Salini Sasidharan at the Groundwater Sustainability and MAR Lab. The student will work groundwater modeling projects (Lower Umatilla Groundwater Management Area and /or North Willamette Valley MAR Site). The project aim is to develop an understanding of these basins for developing managed aquifer recharge based solutions to improve groundwater quality and quantity.OSU commits to inclusive excellence by advancing equity and diversity in all that we do. Position Duties | Data processing & modeling – 70%Downloading and compiling data for groundwater modelingConverting hard/PDF data to suitable formatsProcessing the data to make it analysis readyProcessing the results to make it presentation readyMaintaining office and databaseResult presentation to stakeholders Laboratory and field experiments – 30%Need-based assistance for laboratory and field experimentsMaintaining the laboratoryAssist in field data collectionAssist in preparing data for manuscript and reports |

Additional Required Qualifications | 2nd or 3rd year Undergraduate Student in the specialization of Water Resources Engineering/ Hydrology/ Environmental Engineering (ENVE)/ Mathematics or Statistics/ Biological and Ecological Engineering/ Data Analysis/ Agricultural Sciences (AGRI)/ Civil Engineering (CE)Proficiency in computational tools (data entry and analysis using excel, PowerPoint, and Word), and experience in using relevant scientific computational tools and softwareEvidence of competence in written and spoken English and excellent communication skillsAbility to follow oral and written instructions, protocols, and research methodsEvidence of self-motivation and ability to work independently and learn new skillsEffectively work with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and perspectivesAbility to lead a field crew or work effectively within a small team of researchersThis position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030. |
