Role

The Manager, Bow River Reservoir Options, is currently seeking a Project Coordinator to join their team.

In this position, you will co-ordinate the timely delivery of an exciting and complex initiative exploring flood and drought mitigation options to reduce the impacts of severe weather events on Albertans and the economy. At this time, this initiative includes two distinct projects, requiring integrated delivery to enable appropriate linkages between them.

This currently underway project looking at the feasibility of three major reservoir and dam options on the Bow River, upstream of Calgary, for mitigating the impacts of flood and drought. More information on this project can be found on our website: https://www.alberta.ca/bow-river-reservoir-options.aspx

A second project will explore if there are potential alternatives to a reservoir and dam that could meet the same objectives. This project is still in the strategic planning stage.

You will join multi-disciplinary and cross-Ministry teams, and will work with external teams and organizations. Involvement of and collaboration with internal and external subject matter experts and technical contributors will inform the engagement, engineering, and environmental aspects of the projects.

The Project Coordinator position will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the projects, including support of cross-cutting activities, such as engagement, communications, records management, briefings, and financials. You will work with the Project Director, Project Managers and wider project teams to develop plans, prepare documentation, conduct portfolio management activities, and lead status reporting. As part of this, you will work with the Contracts and Procurement Unit (CPU) and Capital Planning & Infrastructure (CPI) branch to ensure timely and accurate reporting, as required.

You will be heavily involved in coordinating the technical elements of the projects, ensuring that all engineering and/or environmental regulatory work conducted by the contractor(s) is reviewed and the work is completed in accordance with department requirements and contract specifications. The Project Coordinators will work with technical experts from the Department, Alberta Transportation, potentially the Government of Canada, industry, and the contractors to ensure meeting of all requirements.
