Scope / Purpose of the Position:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated WASH Officer to join the WASH Team. The WASH Officer will be responsible for supporting the implementation and coordination of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) activities under the Flood Recovery Program. Reporting to the Deputy Director WASH, the incumbent will collaborate with Branches and external stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of WASH services and contribute to the recovery and rehabilitation of flood-affected areas.
Specific Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities:
Support the Deputy Director WASH in planning, implementing, and monitoring WASH activities in alignment with the objectives of the Flood Recovery Program. Assist in conducting assessments and surveys to identify WASH needs and priorities in flood-affected areas. Contribute to the development and implementation of WASH recovery plans, including the design, construction, and maintenance of water supply systems, sanitation facilities, and hygiene promotion initiatives. Provide technical expertise and guidance on WASH-related engineering issues, ensuring compliance with industry standards, guidelines, and best practices. Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and community representatives to establish and maintain partnerships for the successful implementation of WASH interventions. Assist in the procurement and distribution of WASH-related supplies and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and appropriate utilization. Assist in the development and delivery of training programs for staff, volunteers, and community members on WASH-related topics, promoting knowledge transfer and capacity building. Close coordination with WASH field team to ensure timely completion of planned activities. Contribute to the preparation of project proposals, budgets, and financial reports in compliance with organizational and donor requirements. Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in WASH and contribute to the development of innovative strategies and approaches for flood recovery programs.
Education
Bachelor’s degreein relevant field orDiploma of Associate Engineering (DAE)from recognized institution.
Experience
Minimum 1x year experience in implementing WASH projects, preferably in disaster or emergency response contexts.
Skills / Knowledge required –       Sound knowledge of water supply systems, sanitation infrastructure, and hygiene promotion strategies. –       Familiarity with relevant engineering software, such as AutoCAD or GIS, is desirable. –       Experience in conducting assessments, surveys, and data analysis for WASH programs. –       Knowledge of national and international WASH guidelines, standards, and protocols. –       Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate activities, and meet deadlines. –       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. –       Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for report writing.
