The Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed, a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Winthrop, Maine whose Mission is to “engage individuals, communities, and businesses in protecting and improving the lakes, ponds and streams of the Cobbossee Watershed,” is seeking to fill the position of Executive Director. Since 2001, we have been engaging our communities, educating our youth, and protecting the waters of the Cobbossee Watershed, a 217 square mile drainage basin in the Kennebec Valley region of Maine.

The Executive Director is responsible for all development/fundraising, volunteer development, marketing, finance, human resource and administrative efforts. Specific duties and responsibilities include: Working with the Board to develop a vision and set goals, strategies and action plans, then implementing them; meeting development and fundraising goals designed to increase financial resources to achieve short- and long-term development goals, including cultivating and sustaining relationships with private philanthropic foundations, local businesses, and individual donors, and seeking out and submitting grant proposals; ensuring financial stability; and maintaining professional relationships with local towns, schools, state agencies, environmental organizations, and other partner organizations.

Candidates for the position must have the following qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or the equivalent in education and closely related work experience; at least 5 years of progressively responsible management experience in providing services to meet community needs, including experience in development, marketing, fiscal management, human resources, and administration; knowledge of (or interest in learning) water quality issues, such as non-point source pollution and invasive vegetation; at least 3 years of development and fundraising experience, including at least one year of experience with grant applications and management; strong leadership and collaboration skills, ability to work independently, and excellent written and verbal presentation skills; and Microsoft Office Computer skills, and familiarity with marketing/ development platforms (such as MailChimp, Little Green Light, etc.).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
