Local recruitment: Forest Restoration Crew Leader

The South Yuba River Citizens League is recruiting a full-time Forest Restoration Crew Leader to direct a crew of two members on invasive plants removal and monitoring projects on the Tahoe National Forest. These projects target areas of high fire risk throughout the Forest, with project areas within the Yuba and American River Ranger Districts. The Crew Leader will work closely with the Forest Conservation Project Manager and a US Forest Service botanist in building work schedules and tracking crew progress throughout the season.

The Crew Leader will be responsible for general crew management and communications, organization, supervision, accurate execution of specified invasive plant treatments, data collection associated with invasive plant treatment, and assuring quality data is collected by the crew. Field forms and data will be managed with ArcGIS online, Microsoft Office, and US Forest Service data management systems. The Crew Leader will also be in charge of daily crew management and communications, with the expectation of direct weekly reports and updates to the Forest Conservation Project Manager.

This position is a full-time temporary, non-exempt, hourly position lasting 12 weeks, beginning in early May and ending in early August 2023. The typical work week will comprise four 10-hour days, with work taking place from 7:00 am – 5:00 pm.
