Introduction

The overall objective of this assignment is to support strengthening of public water utilities’ operational efficiency and financial management in targeted localities, so as to enable partner local governments to meet their obligations towards provision of water services (water supply, wastewater management incl. treatment) to their citizens. Assignment is part of the ongoing 4-year second project phase. It will contribute to 31 water utilities (located within the MEG partner local governments), grouped into 3 intervention clusters/LOTs:

  • Cluster/LOT 1: “North-West”, consisting of the following 11 water utilities: Bosanski Petrovac, Bužim, Čelinac, Laktaši, Mrkonjić Grad and Srbac (new partner LGs and water utilities in MEG II), and Bihać, Bosanska Krupa, Gradiška, Prijedor, Sanski Most (LGs from MEG Project Phase I).
  • Cluster/LOT 2: “North-East”, consisting of the following 12 water utilities: Busovača, Doboj Istok, Ilijaš, Istočno Novo Sarajevo, Odžak, Orašje, Šamac (new partner LGs and water utilities in MEG II), and Gračanica, Prnjavor, Teslić, Tešanj, Žepče (LGs from MEG Project Phase I).
  • Cluster/LOT 3: “South”, consisting of the following 8 water utilities: Čapljina, Čitluk, Gacko, Ljubuški, Mostar, Široki Brijeg, Tomislavgrad, Trebinje (new partner LGs and water utilities in MEG II)

The MEG project, which is co-financed by the Government of Switzerland, Sweden and the Czech Republic, and supported by EU Delegation in BiH, and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP BiH), represents one of the largest and most complex interventions in the field of local self-government.
