The purpose of the internship is to assist the organising committee in recruiting and managing volunteers for the event as well as assisting in planning and executing social activities around the event (such as VIP receptions).

The Intern will report to Bryony Stentiford, Event Director for the Symposium and Director of the Growth Hub (Fundraising and Business Development).

 Main responsibilities

  • Connect with and recruit volunteers from universities to assist with the delivery of the symposium
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of key social events including inviting and taking care of VIPs as necessary
  • Be onsite during the symposium itself and assist with delivery of the volunteers’ responsibilities and events

Requested qualifications

  • The applicant must be enrolled or just graduated from a recognised (under)graduate programme, preferably in a field related to international development, water or events and marketing and have an interest in working in the NGO sector
  • The applicant should be well-organised, self-motivated, and reliable, with a strong interest in problem solving and project management
  • Writing skills and basic computer skills are required
  • Good knowledge of English is required, and the knowledge of Dutch, French or Spanish is a plus
  • Demonstrated volunteering or other experience related to development cooperation

Details of the position

  • Start date February 2023
  • The candidate will initially be offered a three-month internship for 24 – 40 hours per week. The internship will be assessed after the first month to determine if it is a good mutual fit for the Intern and IRC
  • Stipend for the internship is € 425,- (gross) per month based on a 40 hours working week; IRC’s Netherlands office is based in The Hague, but (partly) working from home is allowed

Candidates are kindly requested to respond with a short motivation letter explaining their interest in the position.

In addition please share a concise curriculum vitae before 27th January 2023 to IRC, attn. Marion Giese at recruitment@ircwash.org. Interviews will be scheduled in the week starting  6th February 2023. For additional information please visit our website at www.ircwash.org
