How This Position Contributes to The Team

The Manager, Water, Science and Engineering Center (WSEC) manages the Community Leadership Council (CLC) in support of leadership activities. Supports operational management of member engagement and communications platform, helping to amplify WEF’s volunteer engagement and improve communication, as well as assist in the management of process improvement within the WSEC division. Provides operational support to WEF’s biosolids efforts.

NOTE: This position is currently 80% remote work, 20% work in office as of April 2022. 

Principal Functions: 

  • Manages daily committee-related operations of member engagement platform – responds to technical committee member requests, provides updates and training, as well as platform maintenance as needed; in these efforts, the Manager, WSEC will work in close coordination with and support of the Sr. Manager, Community Engagement  
  • Manages process improvement plans, including definition of roles and responsibilities, and detailed documentation of procedures within the WSEC division
  • Manages the CLC and Steering Committee by developing agendas, producing briefing materials, tracking action items, taking notes, and meeting outputs – in support of volunteer engagement, the Manager, WSEC provides guidance, administration, and serves as CLC substantive point of contact
  • Works with and manages relevant volunteer groups to develop initiatives and services to support WEF’s member engagement objectives through on-line outreach and communications platforms; the Manager, WSEC liaises with volunteer leaders, schedules and participates in webinars, plans events, and workshops 
  • Coordinates volunteer activity with WEF’s Education & Training delivery mechanisms, Communications group, Publications group, Marketing, and other groups as applicable
  • Supports the Sr. Director of the WSEC on specific WEF initiatives on technical topics of interest, including 50 percent of allocated time on biosolids
  • Other duties as assigned

 Qualifications: 

  • B.A. in Business Management or related degree area 
  • 3 + years’ experience focused on operations, communications, and engagement and/or community management 
  • High degree of initiative and interest in business and service development
  • Ability to manage and support staff/volunteer teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimum direction and to lead projects from initial concept to delivery
  • Articulate, with excellent written communication skills and ability to serve as a WEF representative
  • Detail oriented and accurate with excellent project management skills
  • Ability to travel, up to 15% annually throughout the year

This person will work primarily in an office environment using standard office equipment.
